To the editor:
As a city counselor, I believe that part of the job of a city official is to be an attentive and hard-working representative of the people. These are traits that I look for when supporting candidates. I respect their drive and willingness to go the extra mile for the people they represent.
Our district deserves a hard-working, intelligent state representative who is willing to put the time and effort into the job, someone who has the drive to be a leader for our district, and someone who works tirelessly for the needs of our district. Jim Kelcourse fits that description. Over the years I have been impressed with his work ethic as a city councilor in Amesbury.
A great example of Jim’s hard work would be when the Amesbury City Council was debating charging a local option tax on the city’s restaurants. Councilor Kelcourse thought it would be best to talk with the people this tax would affect the most, the restaurant owners. Jim took the time to visit all 22 restaurants in the city to discuss this ordinance, which gave him a much better understanding on the issue.
This is the extra effort that makes a great city official. This is the representation I would like to see at the Statehouse on our behalf. We deserve a representative that will reach out to his constituents and discuss the issues that affect them.
Another example of Jim’s hard work ethic has been shown throughout his campaign. If you have recently attended a community event, you have most likely seen Jim there. You may have had the opportunity of meeting Jim at your front door. You may have seen his many signs throughout the district. This has not happened by accident. Jim is working tirelessly to meet the residents of the districts and to find out what concerns them. I respect and admire this.
This is what Jim Kelcourse is all about, hard-working and attentive to the needs of his constituents and that is why I am wholeheartedly endorsing Jim for state representative. Please join me in supporting Jim Kelcourse on Nov. 4 and send him to the Statehouse to work for us.
